Raymond Davis
Raymond Davis an American employee of the US consulate lahore used his side arms and killed( two foreigners') suspected armed robbers (mobile snatchers ) in broad day light in a market of lahore (in a foreign land)
According to the earlier reports...there was a lot of commotion caused on the streets by a backup vehicle(official) that came to rescue Raymond Davis after the shooting...and run over an innocent bystander ...that story has been hushed up now to make MR Raymond Davis a one point agenda between an obvious US-Pak Diplomatic and military stand off .It is interesting to note at this point that the US embassy in islamabad and all the consulates in the major cities of Pakistan are going through a transitional period...they are revamping ..the Raymond davis ordeal maybe a very good chance for them to realize whether they wish to be seen as friends, foreigners' or Masters...
The local police and the state department in Washington will only say and do what they are told to and that makes it even more difficult...
So far it seems that the release of Mr Raymond davis is not a priority issue for the US embassy in islamabad....they seems to be very glad to keep the white house and some local agencies distracted....and confused....while they establish their influence
If all goes well, I can safely predict the time frame the Mr Raymond Davis issue will take to be resolved and believe you me its not happening any time soon...if the local judiciary failed to stall it to the desired length under the media pressure....the matter being an issue of the International Law and US interest as well as the integrity and sovereignty of a foreign country may easily be referred to the parliament of the sovereign country :((
