Khyber-Pakhtunkha

If you are in the northwest frontier province ,peshawer or any pathan dominated area of any city in pakistan you may get to hear ariel firings and dancing of joy these days and the reason for that is that the 18th amendment bill to the constitution of Pakistan has been sugar coated with the change of Name of the pashtun(pathan) dominated North West Frontier Province to Khyber-Pashtunkha.
Being landlocked and mountainous this region has been very treacherous and challenging for conquarers,invaders and travelers.The khyber pass has been the route to and from india for centuries ,alexander,babur,akbar,suri and many afghan prince used this route millions of time.The British captured this region mostly to secure the passes and parameters from invaders and mercenaries.It has always been believed that who ever comes to this region from the west or north does not just stop there...he marches forward to Lahore and Delhi or retreats to Kabul....so it must have been the priority of the british army to neutralize this region in order to save the british india...it is also believed that after failing to advance to wards kabul the British called it "frontier" (Sarhad) and used it as a buffer zone to save the Afghan king from people of this region as well as chinese and russian contraband trade.And allowed only british and Indian goods to pass through.Somehow the british found these tribal pashtuns easier to rule than the Irish or gorkha indians.They enjoyed little resistance and great loyalty from this unruly region than anywhere in India.The terms "Political Agent" and "Agency" are british terms which was never touched let alone modified by any successive Independent of His/Her majesty's government ruler of Pakistan.

So the interesting question is that with US and Nato forces in Kabul and Pakistan Army Neutralizing most of South Waziristan(FATA),Khurrum Agency and defeating the Malakand/Swat Uprising....if the Elected Parliament of Pakistan changed the name of "sarhad"(NWFP/Frontier) province....is there a sign....?lol....
