Pride and Prejudice

Today on the last Sabbath in the month of june 2012 ,I woke up to the loud sound of Gun Hammer being used in the neighborhood by the philistine builder mafia who are engaged in the pre building demolition work in a number of old houses in the neighborhood.Unable to ignore the sounds the most incredible thing i did online was to register and download the Kindle app from the Amazon.UK. A site that has been introduced to me by my facebook and childhood friend and dear cousin and now the proud author of two amazing story books available on Amazon.UK.Congratulations A.B.Syed wish you all the best.

So when the Kindle app for PC download was complete i was again amazed to see three of the most famous books of all times in public domain.its so much better than going to a library for borrowing a book. Its not that i have read this book before and also watched the Movies and television series and adaptations in different languages over the years it is so good to finally have a legitimate copy of my own.

I was talking to my brother in Saudi Arabia on skype before watching this movie and he asked me about the movies i have watched lately and i told him that these days i am watching turkey soaps in urdu on a new channel by the name of Urdu1.After signing off from the net and skype i was channel surfing when i saw this movie. It was an absolute entertainment if bad movies are called turkeys than this should be the Pegasus.

Here in Karachi and most probably in Mumbai too the pavements for walking with the busy streets have been illegally occupied by expansion of the shops ,carts and vendors or by the parked cars.Just the other day i was walking on a busy street in the neighborhood on the extreme possible side of the street between the traffic and the parked cars on the pavements or on the street when suddenly a motorcycle with two gentlemen riders came from behind against the flow of the traffic (wrong side) slightly touched me before applying the brakes.In a state of shock and bewilderment and after cry of exclamation (!) wordless sound the word that came from my mouth was unbelievably "SORRY". Now suppose at this very moment i or anybody who cannot even speak the language of this movie had come out of the movie theater after watching a constant verbal tirade from the main characters of this movie had a similar incident, I have no doubt in my mind what so ever what the first few words could have been.I wont repeat them here because in the past few years and especially last summer under direct physical and verbal attack upon me i failed to even respond with those exquisite delicacies of the Indian language and culture. The Strength of my character or probably good upbringing (achay sanskar) often surprises me in times of shock and hurt where i cannot possibly claim the presence of mind and will power.Obviously the sequel and the original have been sponsored by the Notorious ISI or any of its sister agencies who are finding it more and more difficult to make me respond to Sargent major kind of behavior which to my clear understanding is a prerequisite to a higher level of social acceptance in the prevalent society and and predominant culture that i have been so blatantly skulking to the mental aggravation of all those who have tried and failed to get me there....

Sholay (1975)

I really really wanted to watch this movie because it is the MOST mentioned Hindi movie on the indian television shows and recently its characters are copied in the comedy shows and competitions that i love to watch.
Honestly i never believed that this Hindi movie could live up to the great expectation that has been created in my mind,But to my greatest surprise and amazement. this movie from the era of my childhood is really very great and fun to watch.
The Movie Sholay has some of the greatest actors of the Hindi cinema performing at their best.The story and screen play is very good and the songs are memorable.What is the Most important thing about Sholay is that the whole film is in the great American outdoors just like a western movie of that era or before must have been absolutely tough to film most of the scenes and sequences in the scorching sun no wonder it was named Sholay meaning flame or fireballs in hindi (urdu) This is what i am assuming because I don't believe that even 40 years later today Bollywood has a studio as big as they had in Hollywood with facilities to shoot a film that creates a sense of outdoors on screen.
